Baklava

Have you ever had baklava before? The first time I had this dessert was when I was pregnant with my daughter. Hubby's former CEO sent us a box of Baklava goodies from Middle East. He is truly a thoughtful guy!
Anyhow, speaking of Baklava....hubby bought a small portion last weekend at HEB store. He did not realized that it's too expensive. Four pieces for $4.99? Weeeee! It's worth the price though...lol!

Baklava is a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of phyllo dough filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with syrup or honey. It is characteristic of the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire and much of central and southwest Asia.

Baklava is a very sweet pastry. Totoo sis. Part yan sya ng culture ng husband ko. As you know, he's fromTurkey where Ottoman Empire started. Di kaya maubos isang slice nyan. Pilitin ko pa kasi sobrang tamis. If I feel like eating baklava, ask ko muna si hubby to look for the not so sweet one. Hihi.
