Balbacua

What is this thing? Have you ever had this before? This dish is called balbacua in the Philippines. It is made from cow’s skin that is boiled for hours until tender, the soup also tends to have oxtail for flavor and the gelatinous material, sometimes the hooves of the cows, and in some cases beans added to the stew.

This dish was serve during the 5oth wedding anniversary of my grandparents....:) I personally don't like it, but for some people this dish is tasty!

I have never tasted that in all my life. Nadidinig ko lang yan pero hindi ko alam na ulam pala. Pero hindi ko gusto yung ingredients kasi me cows hide, ngeeeek, pansapatos lang yon di ba? Joke lang, walang pikunan. Salamat sa pag feature mo dito. God bless you all always.

i also don't like balbacua.. i thin i saw that once.. bigay ng kapit-bahay namen noon.. ayaw ko sya kasi parang slimy..^^

Hi Dhemz! Yan pala ang Balbacua?! I have heard of it before but I thought Balbacua is a kind of dried salty big fish. Mali pala ako. he he.
This dish looks real tasty.

I have never heard this too before, but the gelatinous skin of the cow, we use them when cooking our bulalo,the ox tail and cheeks. thanks for dropping by.

depende man sa pagluto ana Dhemz, naa lami moluto ana, naa pod lansa ang timplada, so depende sa taong nag luto ana. Ninang ni Janjan lami kaayo mo luto ana, peo kung akong papa kay way lami nyahahaha.

BTW..nice kaayo LO karon hehehe.

di pa ako nakatikim nito eh, but narinig ko na to, sounded not a yummy food :-); i have to try it so i know it is not what i think it taste like :-)

ay o madam sis, mostly lalaki ang mag-eat og todo2x ani.. heheh.. but I like too, and yep depende sa magluto naa lami magluto naa pod langsa xa. Mostly ang balbacua-hon did2 Camiguin pork, and I guess haven't eaten beef balbacua (am not so sure though), am sure hubz would like this 'coz he prefers beef than pork. Thanks for the yummylicious madam sis.. reminiscing those good times of mine. muahhh!

I like balbacua too dhemz pero depende sa pagkaluto. Gimingaw nako dane da. Sa wala pako maka-anhe dinhi very rare jud nga makakaon ko dane kay super ka mahal man. Karon medyo ka afford na pero ang problema wala pod ni dinhe baligya. Kung magluto pod ko..na ambot unsa kahay lame.
