Care and Clean for Leather Furniture

Leather furniture is a beautiful addition to any room. It makes a gorgeous statement to any visitor entering your home. I like leather furniture for it is a durable choice for families. It can really stand up to kids. For this reason it is very important to properly care for and clean your leather pieces whether it's an occasional chair, a sofa or a large sectional.

- Make sure to keep your leather furniture out of direct sunlight. It may look beautiful in front of a bright and sunny window, but the sun will cause the leather to dry out and crack.

- Make sure to keep your leather furniture away from fireplaces, baseboard heat, forced hot air heat vents. The heat is damaging to the leather. The heat will cause drying and cracking of the leather.

- To care for your leather furniture make sure to blot stains as soon as possible. Never rub the stain. Use a clean dry rag and keep blotting until the stain is gone.

- To care for and clean your leather furniture on a monthly basis use a very mild soap such as Ivory Liquid Soap and a clean wet rag. Wipe the entire surface with the warm slightly soapy mixture then wipe with a clean rag dampen with only water. Finally use a clean dry rag and dry the surface.
