Playing tennis was not a common thing in my town. When I first moved here I was shocked at the condition of the tennis court. There was only one tennis court in town and it was overgrown with weeds. I immediately began pulling up all the weeds and cleaning up the court.
I knew it was a small town but I was still shocked at the condition of the tennis court. When I was finishing up the cleaning of the tennis court one of the elderly ladies that live across from the court came over and smiled. She told me that this was the first time she had seen the tennis court in this condition since the first year they installed it.
I learned that the tennis court had been built 8 years ago and with the exception of the initial day when it was dedicated, nobody ever played tennis. I began teaching a few of the high school kids how to play tennis and pretty soon that tennis court was so busy that we raised the money to build two more tennis courts.
Before I leave my house to head to the new tennis courts I will set my home security alarm from http://www.InHomeSecurity.com and then spend a few hours at the tennis courts. This town now has many new tennis players. The tennis courts have also turned into the new hangout for the adults who come to mingle and chat with their neighbors. It is amazing how tennis can help bring a small town together.
